Inkyeong Baek (M.F.A., painting, 2016) explores the influence of mass media, including television, radio, newspapers and the internet, on public values and perception. A native of South Korea, Baek now lives and works in Atlanta, Georgia. Baek’s playmobil figurines represent the public, who though they think of themselves as independent beings, are unwittingly controlled by unseen forces. They look playful and delightful, but all is not as it seems. Past solo and group exhibitions include North Charleston City Gallery, South Carolina; Matre Gallery Satellite and Kai Lin Art, Atlanta, Georgia; The Green Bean, Greensboro, North Carolina, and elsewhere.
