Yue Xiao is pursuing a master’s in urban design and living in Savannah, Georgia. While her undergraduate study in China focused on landscape architecture, her interest in art blossomed when she started drawing still life with pencil. She communicates the beautiful and spectacular elements of life through her art. In “The Tybee Ocean Wave," Xiao intends to express the concept of a rough but gorgeous existence. She affixes plaster to wood, representing the rough waves of the ocean. She also uses different acrylic colors to depict diverse skin tones. Xiao often finds encouragement in her own art pieces and hopes to inspire others as well.
