Rebecca Braziel was born in Savannah, Georgia. She graduated from the Savannah College of Art and Design with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2008. Her fibers background is at the core of her practice creating a focus on texture, process, material, and repetition. Her subject matter builds upon the complicated relationship between nature and mankind seducing viewers to peer into a multitude of Mixed Media abstract works to discover visions of flora and fauna. Braziel’s work while extremely beautiful, carries messages of wildfires, deforestation, and human consumption of natural materials. Rebecca moved to Houston in 2013 and has since completed a six-month residency at the Houston Center for Contemporary Craft, maintains a position as Teaching Artist at the Museum of Fine Arts Houston, Acted as a member of Box13 Artspace, received the Houston Individual Artist Grant, and exhibited work at venues such as Lawndale Art Center, Galveston Arts Center, Gray Contemporary Gallery, and the MFAH.
