Namwon Choi (Professor of foundation studies) was born in Seoul, Korea. Choi has participated in The Creatives Project; the 2015 River Fellow Artist in Residence at Columbus State University, Georgia; the 2016 Hambidge Center residency; and the 2016 Virginia Center for the Creative Arts residency. She also received the 2014 Walthall Artist Fellowship.
Choi’s work was featured at Aqua Art Miami, Florida; the National MFA Wet Paint Biennial Exhibition, Chicago, Illinois; Zhou B Art Center, Chicago; the Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia, Atlanta; and the Korean Cultural Center, Los Angeles, California. In June 2017, Choi showed a new body of work, "In-betweenness" at Artist-Homes Gallery, Berlin, Germany, followed by a two-person exhibition, "Found In Transition," at 180 Gallery, Atlanta, Georgia, in January 2017.
