Duong Gia Liem (M.A., painting, 2017) is a painter and book designer originally from Vietnam. In addition to his SCAD M.A. thesis show and various group exhibitions in Atlanta, Georgia, a solo exhibition of Liem’s oil paintings and ceramics was mounted in Hanoi in 2011. He has also exhibited his work at SCAD as part of Open Studio Night in 2015 and 2016. Liem’s oil paintings hang in Kookmin Bank in Hanoi and have been acquired for private collections in both the U.S. and Vietnam. His prolific work, totaling more than 1,000 paintings, includes charitable murals for the Dai Lai Pagoda in the Vinh Phuc province in Vietnam and the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion. He has also produced ceramic work for the former Vietnamese Minister of Culture and the Quang Minh Mosaic company. In addition to his fine art practice, Liem has worked as a freelance designer for many magazines and newspapers and has designed more than 500 book covers.
