Libby Barret (B.F.A. painting) is an artist originally from Tyler, Texas. Her work focuses on creating figurative and abstract paintings that use chairs as a subject. For Barret, chairs function as metaphors – which address rest, communication, conversation and identity. In addition to chairs, she also centers her canvases with light and movement. She interned with painter Lulie Wallace in Charleston, South Carolina, in the summer of 2018. Barret has displayed her work in several group exhibitions, including "Other People’s Bodies" and "Where Joy is Found", in Savannah, Georgia. Her study abroad experience in Lacoste, France, allowed her to engage and participate in two group shows, "Ouvert Studio Nuit" and "Barn Cat."
