Katrina Schmidt-Rinke (M.F.A., painting, 2001; B.F.A., painting, 1999) is an award-winning painter who resides in Pinehurst, North Carolina. Spending time in the Laurentian mountains in Quebec as a child has influenced her life and work. A lover of nature, she captures the quiet beauty of it by reinterpreting landscapes, often exaggerating or abstracting forms from them. The resulting work is not a replication of the actual landscape, but the landscape is the resource and inspiration for what comes out on the canvas. Schmidt-Rinke has exhibited throughout the U.S., including at P.H. Miller Gallery, Woodbury, Connecticut; Gallery 10, Hilton Head, South Carolina; and Pinnacle Gallery, Savannah, Georgia.
