Justin Armstrong (b. 1988, Birmingham, Alabama) received his M.F.A. in Painting at Savannah College of Art & Design in March 2020, where he also received a B.F.A. in Painting in June 2016. He has shown work at the Department of Education in Washington, DC, SCAD at Design Miami, and Gutstein Gallery in Savannah, GA. Armstrong approaches visual content in terms of materiality, surface, and effect. His painting practice involves interplay between line and color meshes to create intense perceptual encounters, while his digital work centers around thematic transformations of appropriated images. He currently lives and works in Leeds, Alabama.
