Jonathon Lee Shannon (B.F.A., painting, 2015) spent most of his childhood in North Carolina, eventually moving to upstate New York as a teenager. This move sparked his curiosity and love of travel and piqued his interest in the creation of art. After he was accepted to the Savannah College of Art and Design, he made it his mission to travel to all four SCAD locations and see the work of the artists who came before him. As a result, he was the first painting student to attend all four SCAD campuses. During his trips, he would fully immerse himself in these new environments to paint en plein air and capture the essence of the place with each stroke on the canvas. Each location brought in new elements and landscapes to study. After years of painting plein-air he has formed a concept of Reverse Reality, in which he paints organic forms geometrically and the geometric forms organically. He is now a full-time artist living in Brooklyn, New York.
