Hagood Coxe's (B.F.A., illustration, 2016) work is influenced by the rugged property in South Carolina where she was raised. Living in the wetlands near the Pee Dee River with no neighbors for 20 miles, Coxe became intimately aware and appreciative of the natural world and fascinated by the balance and beauty of the relationships that supported the diverse wild life.
