Gwen O’Neil (B.F.A., photography, 2015) currently lives and creates in Los Angeles, CA. Her photography developed from an interest in the work of many abstract artists, such as Helen Frankenthaler, Mark Rothko, Wolfgang Tillmans and Uta Barth. Working mostly with film, her works embody an ethereal quality. A gentle haze envelops her photographs as she manipulates the light and color of the landscape. Having been inspired by abstract painters, O'Neil soon began to work with acrylics and raw canvas with the intentions of bringing her aesthetic from photography to painting.
