Debra Malschick, SCAD professor of foundation studies, draws and paints natural forms in a conceptual space. Consideration of classical underlying geometric structure and patterns inherent in nature lead to the structure of her work. Direct observation through drawing, sketchbook, photo and computer are a part of her process in developing the drawings and paintings. Malschick’s work is in public and private collections around the world, has been exhibited internationally, published as limited-edition prints and licensed for use in the entertainment industry. Debra has received publication awards, been included in a book on contemporary painting and received a One Percent for the Arts Commission in Los Angeles among other honors.
