Bella Kimmel

Place has never been consistent for contemporary painter Bella Kimmel. Having lived in New Zealand, Richmond Virginia, London England, and now as a current B.F.A. painting student at Savannah Collage of Art and Design, in Savannah Georgia, Bella finds that In her practice she takes on the role of observer to suit her shifting environment. As observer, Bella’s paintings draw significantly on memory as she records the consistencies and revelatory moments within her diverse experience. Bella sees these consistencies as the foundation to her practice, they are important to her has they have been sustaining during her multiple moves and the change that accompanied them. Bella’s goal is that her paintings are a vehicle for empathy and connection. Bella is proud to have showcased select works from her ‘Rock Pool Series’ in the November 2021 SCAD open studio juried exhibition. In addition, Further work from this collection have been selected for print in the SCAD annual literary arts journal, Port City Review 2022. Bella is expected to graduate May 2023, during her remaining time at SCAD Bella has begun to explore lithography as a new medium, an opportunity to look inward at internal environment for a series of introspective works.
