Alex graduated from Savannah College of Art and Design with a BFA in Painting and Printmaking in 2012. She recently (September 2019) moved to Atlanta, Georgia. She is a studio artist at MINT. In 2014, she was one of the Regional Emerging Artist in Residence at Artspace in Raleigh, North Carolina. She was included in New American Paintings No. 118 in 2015 and was awarded Best In Show at the 2017 Piccolo Spoleto Juried Art Exhibition. She will be an Artist in Residence at The Gibbes in the summer of 2018. Alex’s paintings are based on the traditional Southern urban landscapes and architecture that surround her. Employing the dreamy color palette abundant in the Charleston environment, she contrasts these images with meticulous paint application. Through this exploration of architectural individuality proliferant in Charleston, she aims to encourage a thoughtful dialogue concerning Charleston's historical significance, forgotten spaces in-between, and the impact of gentrification. She is interested to see where this move to Atlanta will take her concept and work.
