Adriana Burgos (Professor of foundation studies; M.F.A., painting, 2000) explores metaphorical space and story-telling through representational drawings and paintings. The content of her work is inspired by life experiences, literature and human emotions and she aims to create meaning both through imagery and abstract qualities such as value, space and expressive mark-making. In 2000, she was the recipient of the William and Dorothy Yeck award granted by Miami University Young Painter’s competition and was later invited to hold a solo show at their campus in Oxford, Ohio. She has exhibited individually in San Jose, Costa Rica; Savannah, Georgia and Oxford, Ohio. Collectively, her work has been part of group shows in Georgia, Ohio, New York, California and abroad in Costa Rica.
