Scranton, Pennsylvania-born Russ Noto is a painter and mixed-media artist whose work elevates the quotidian by considering everyday consumer objects with the style of historical painting techniques. His visual and theoretical vocabulary explores the past and present in juxtaposition. Noto’s first solo show, “Natural Artifice,” was held at the Richard J. Demato Fine Arts Gallery in Sag Harbor, New York, in 2011. Noto also has exhibited his work through Galerie C.O.A., Montreal, and at both the SCOPE New York and SCOPE Miami art fairs. His work is collected in Beijing; Bratislava, Slovakia; Florida; Georgia; Washington, D.C.; Pennsylvania; and New York; and was added to the Savannah College of Art Design permanent collection in 2010.
